Canned Wine Is The Way Forward At Anvil Arts
The Copper Crew became the exclusive single serve wine across The Anvil and The Haymarket in September as the venues moved towards a quality, more sustainable offer for its guests.
A Quarter Of All Bar Sales
We started supplying The Anvil and its second site The Haymarket in 2024 as part of the independent venues’ move towards offering a more sustainable drinks offering. We’ve been so pleased to launch at Anvil Arts’ two venues, sharing our quality range of organic Italian wines with their guests.
The Copper Crew wines are already strongly outperforming the quarter bottles previously listed. On busy nights like their Illegal Eagles show, the wines accounted for a quarter of all bar’s sales, topping the sales list against beers, waters and softs. Similar performances were seen during activations at events for artists like Dawn French and Ben Elton.
We’re over the moon that a great tasting, great looking brand like The Copper Crew can deliver this sales boost while helping to future proof Anvil Arts’ sustainability plans.

We had been searching for several years for a high quality, sustainable, canned single serve wine option. Fortunately, we found The Copper Crew. They are now our sole suppliers of single serve wine. We’re delighted to have them on board and share their fabulous wine with our audiences.
The Copper Crew have been a pleasure to work with. Everyone at The Copper Crew has been friendly, knowledgable and reliable. They have offered us great support, through incentives, POS and training. They have even attended our ‘meet the supplier’ events, where they have showcased their wines to our audiences.
We’ve been very impressed with the quality of wine on offer from The Copper Crew. Each wine has its own distinct characteristics, but they’re also very smooth and have broad appeal for all our customers. The Negroamaro is my personal favourite, I often recommend it to any customers who may be unsure about canned wine. They are always shocked how good it is!
From a Front of House operational perspective, The Copper Crew wines are incredibly fast to serve, which helps ease the pressure on our busy bar queues. They are also super convenient for our seat delivery and pre-order service.

A Team Effort Yields Top Results
As on-trade specialists we are very conscious that every bit of your bar space is precious, especially in a theatre when you have limited time with guests to upsell their experience. The Copper Crew is made to provide both value to the customer with its ‘house serve’ pricing and crowd-pleasing quality through its fruit-forward taste. This ensures maximum satisfaction for the most customers walking through your doors or topping up refreshments in the interval.
At Anvil Arts, we know that cans would be new for most customers but once they’ve tried The Copper Crew the product does the hard work in boosting repeat sales and driving revenue. We first ensured that the staff were bought in by offering tasting sessions and training briefs. We not only shared the can’s recyclability and lighter weight CO2 emissions impact, but how we have built sustainability into every part of our supply chain, from the winery to the glass.
With the staff on board and each having their favourite wines and a compelling story to tell customers about sustainability and provenance when asked, the next challenge is to drive consumer’s first time buys. We activated with tasting sessions during Anvil’s Meet the Supplier pop-ups right from the get-go, sharing the wines and stories directly and supporting with our own team throughout the pre-show and interval trading. We even helped take orders. Following these tasting sessions, we launched a multi-buy bundle and began to achieve record sales for the wine range at Anvil Arts.
None of this happens without buy-in from the venue and staff, so a huge thank you to the team at Anvil Arts for believing in us and listing The Copper Crew. It is another example of how we can deliver when a partner invites us on board and we can steer the ship together. Sustainability comes more quickly when it’s profitable and beneficial for everyone. This is what drives change and it’s fantastic to have The Anvil and The Haymarket on board for the journey!
