Working with ActOne Cinema in London has always been a joy. The team communicate regularly their customer feedback and work closely with us to meet demand for great-tasting, sustainable wines. The quality serve had to be efficient and reduce queue pressure, making use of the precious time before screenings. The wines also needed to be simple to understand, so we delivered in our award-winning dry lees-aged Sparkling Chardonnay, juicy Viognier, bright Grenache Rosé and full-bodied Garnacha. Today the regulars keep coming back for more.

The cans are sold from our bar café. It’s a matter of seconds to deliver a can and a glass to customers. The Garnacha and Viognier are particularly popular – a few customers even asked whether they are available in shops to stock up!

Sustainability Matters

ActOne Cinema is a community-run not for profit, established by a group of residents keen to preserve the heart of the Passmore Edwards Old Library, an Asset of Community Value. Before committing to cans, the group did a lot of research on cans versus glass bottles, ultimately choosing cans because of their recyclability and lighter weight, saving on CO₂ emissions.

Cans also unlocked big operational improvements. A fast, reliable serve that chills quickly and is easy to store – not to mention the slim cans fit neatly into their glassware, making the serve even faster. For a cinema, where the minutes matter before the screening, the quick service meant queue pressure lightened, all while helping to fund the bar, staff and screenings that the community have grown to love.

While cans were met with curiosity at first, customers today hardly question it. The regulars order it because they like it, and even ask where they can stock up. The beautiful can designs help to get those first timers over the line, intrigued to try something new, and our award-winning quality does the rest of the heavy lifting.
