About
Ben Franks is best known for founding the multi-award-winning wine merchant Novel Wines at the age of 22, before going on to co-found Canned Wine Co. in 2019. Described as ‘a shining example of the entrepreneurial spirit’ by Angela Mount in The Buyer and recognised as ‘one of the UK’s leading wine buyers’ in Decanter Magazine, Ben was named ‘Leadership Champion’ in the Harpers 30 Under 30 in 2024. At Canned Wine Co., Ben is in charge of sourcing our wines and heading up the sales and marketing commercial teams. Ben holds a WSET Diploma in Wines and is an aspiring Master of Wine student.
I got into wine in my teens and for me it was all about stories. It’s the same today after half a decade in the trade as a buyer: I look for people who are writing their own narrative – planting indigenous grapes, reviving the life of millennia old soils, nurturing their wines in barrels, celebrating their wines by the carafe with friends and loved ones. Every wine has a story, and now I spend my time canning little moments of each.
